Bedaard is a wood aged wild black beer with blue berry and pine.
The first collab between Nevel Artisan Ales and the Amsterdam based Poesiat & Kater. Every year they organise the Stout Fest and two years ago they had the idea to brew a wild sour stout, a style that usually is pretty sweet and heavy, but off course these guys would do the total opposite; lot's of flavour but light in alcohol.
Complex by creating this winter feeling by using organic Dutch black berries from the Noordebos in Drenthe. The pine branches that were used for the beer are from the Ommuurde Tuin in Renkum.
Bedaard has aged for 13 months on wood which results in a dry, fruity and light sour beer that is surprisingly soft in taste. Up front you wil have the fruitiness from the blue berry, and in the after taste you can taste the roasted malts together with the resin of the pine. In the nose you get the aroma's of coffee, roasted malts and underneath a layer of fruitiness and woody notes of coconut and vanilla. The beer is very accessible for a dark beer and has a low ABV of only 4.3%
